Letters to and from, or regarding Nikola Tesla

August 3rd, 1899 letter from George Scherff to Nikola Tesla

New York, Aug. 3rd, 1899
46 & 48 E. Houston Str.

Nikola Tesla, Esq.,
Colorado Springs, Colo.

Dear Mr. Tesla:

Mr. Uhlman reports that the work on the filings and clockworks is progressing very rapidly. The nickel wire will be finished to-day. He expects to test the speed of the second independent break to-morrow. work on the third break is also being continued.

Besides the two inclosed letters the mail to-day contained an invitation from the Oesterreichische Gesellschaft to attend a banquet on the birthday of H. M. the Emperor Francis Joseph. As an answer was requested, I have informed the Society of your absence.

Mr. Clark, the experimenter in wireless telegraphy, called here this morning. He said he desired to obtain from you a powerful oscillator, or get information how to build one, for the purpose of making an exhibition in wireless telegraphy in Toronto shortly, and also for making an attempt to telegraph to a distance of 100 miles somewhere in British Columbia. (Perhaps this has something to do with a clipping I inclose from this week's Elec. Review.) I told him that you were out of town and would probably not return before the time of the exhibition.

Respectfully,
Geo. Scherff
