Letters From Our Readers - Rainfall and Electricity

July 9th, 1921

TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW YORK EVENING POST

SIR: The information which you afford in your paper through Nikola Tesla about electricity being the natural cause of the rainfall is about as reliable as that which you were wont to publish about the folks in the north of Ireland. As far as I know, and I do not consider myself an "average person," or, to speak more plainly, a gullible ass — I am not a scientist, but I am pretty careful in gathering information about science — Tesla is the only scientist, or near scientist, who holds the opinion you have expressed for fun. You know and I know that rain and snow falls, or is precipitated, in winter months when there are no electrical discharges whatever. I suppose he will assert that is because we do not see or hear them.
