Sympathetic Telegraphy

From Denver toward New York there is speeding, as fast as railroad trains can bear him, one W. H. Rice, a former student under Nikola Tesla, carrying with him the plans and specifications of a system of wireless telegraphy more wonderful than that which Marconi has in practical operation and that of which Tesla has conversed on several occasions.

The Kansas City "Journal" explains the system in the following, extremely lucid manner: "His system is known as the sympathetic telegraph and its principal requisites are two needles which have been chemically treated in such a manner that electrical action upon one effects the other at the same time and causes them to attract and repel each other in an instant.

It is asserted that by means of it he can send messages over a distance of five miles. The possibilities of the invention are said to be without limit.

Mr. Rice expects that he will be able to perfect his system after he has had a consultation with Tesla. In any case there is good ground for the belief that either he or Tesla will have something new to say about it. Probably Tesla will do the additional talking. That eminent electrician has had nothing to say for publication in a comparatively long time.
