Tesla's Great Scheme

Tesla still persists in declaring that he will be able to generate electric pressure "measured by hundreds of thousands "and even millions of volts" and transmit it through the atmosphere. The public is inclined to be skeptical, but even if the inventor proves that he can accomplish all he says it will still be doubtful if the new system would pay. To the average observer it would seem to be like "monkeying with fate." Perhaps nothing would happen when the current were turned on, but timid individuals would be inclined to wish themselves on some other planet.
