The exhibition inaugurated in New York by the National Electric Light Association places another milestone in the wonderful progress of electricity and is a monument also to the inventive genius of Nikola Tesla. All the other evidences of electrical progress that appear in the exhibition are insignificant compared to this overwhelming manifestation of the harnessed waterfall and the possibilities of transmitting its power to individual consumers at will. It may be more spectacular to witness the sending of a message from a room in New York around the world to the same room again at the touch of the button that summons far-off Niagara to obedience, but it is far more wonderful and commercially important to realize that great factories in many cities can be run from this common source, and that even New York itself is soon to be included in the commercial territory Niagara can supply. The mind can hardly comprehend the extent of the revolution inaugurated by this giant motor that nature set up thousands of years ago and is dazed by the undoubted fact that its resources have been tested only to an infinitesimal degree. Even a conservative prediction of what the future will reveal in this storehouse of motive power would read like a fairy tale or a rose-colored dream.
