Marconi and Tesla (Apr. 4, 1899)

Marconi and Tesla. Marconi has demonstrated the possibility of sending telegraphic messages across the British Channel without wires. Tesla says that he can, when his appliances shall be perfected, communicate with London without the aid of cables.

For the demonstration of that we shall have to wait. Mr. Tesla is one of the brightest of electricians, and we are all proud of him. He has done some good work, and probably will do more. Yet he promises much so far in advance of performance that doubts have arisen as to his practical abilities.

He would be guilty of rashness who should deny that messages can be sent 3,000 miles without wires. So little is known about electricity that it is unsafe to deny anything postulated by Mr. Tesla. But if a message can be sent 3,000 miles without wires, why not to any distance In space?
