Tesla's Right to Experiment

Whatever may be thought of Nikola Tesla’s scheme for communicating with Mars, he is entitled to respect for the resoluteness with which he advocates his views and adheres to his opinions. Moreover, he is entitled as a man, and also by reason of his eminent achievements in electrical science, to all the enjoyment he can get from a ride on his present hobby. If it carries him to Mars, as he believes it will, so that he can converse with the supposed inhabitants of that planet, he will immortalize his name and possibly immensely advance the interests of humanity. From the prosaic point of view occupied by Mr. Tesla’s fellow-beings of this planet there is not the slightest prospect of his success. But he believes there is one chance, say in a thousand or a million, and he is going to throw his line after that chance.
