Convention of Scientists

AMERICAN ELECTRO-THERAPEUTIC ASSOCIATION WILL MEET HERE NEXT MONTH.

The American Electro-Therapeutic Association will hold its eighth annual meeting in this city on September 13th, 14th and 15th. The sessions of the association will be held in the rooms of the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences in the Library Building. The hotel headquarters will be The Iroquois. An exhibition of electrical apparatus for diagnostic, therapeutic and radiographic work will be an interesting feature of the convention.

Several foreign persons of note will come to Buffalo. Among them are Dr. J. Inglis Parsons of London, Eng., who will read a paper on “The Effect of High Tension Discharges Upon Micro-Organisms.” Dr. Gautier of Paris will present several subjects before the convention.

Nikola Tesla will attend the convention and will read a paper entitled “High Frequency Oscillator for Electro-Therapeutic Purposes.” Dr. Lucien Howe and Dr. William C. Krauss will represent Buffalo at the meeting. Dr. Howe will speak on “The Method for Using Cataphoresis in Certain Forms of Conjunctival Inflammations.” Dr. Krauss will read a paper on a “Case of Lightning Stroke Without Serious Consequences.”

The objects of the association are the cultivation and promotion of knowledge in whatever relates to the applications of electricity to medicine and surgery. The officers of the association are:

President, Dr. Charles R. Dickson of Toronto; first vice president, Dr. Frederick Schavoir of Stamford, Conn.; second vice president, Dr. Caleb Brown of Sac City, Ia.; secretary, Dr. John Gerin of Auburn, N. Y.; treasurer, Dr. Richard J. Nunn of Savannah, Ga.

The following Buffalonians form the committee on arrangements at this city: Dr. Ernest Wende, chairman; Dr. W. W. Potter, printing; Newcomb Carlton, exhibits; Dr. Roswell Park, Dr. Herman E. Hayd, Dr. Henry R. Hopkins and Charles R. Huntley.
