Wonders of Wireless Telegraphy

The limitless possibilities of ether as a transmitting medium for electricity are only just becoming known. Wireless telegraphy has contributed to our knowledge of this mysterious element, and now comes Nikola Tesla with a statement which, allowing for the exuberance of Mr. Tesla's imagination, is strikingly coincident with other recent developments.

He says, speaking of the wonders of electrical vibration: "Wireless telegraphy is only an incident. I shall not only be able to send messages to Paris, but to any other city, without wires. I am confident that the movements and operations of bodies of machinery carried by the same can be controlled from a great distance without any tangible connection whatever, and with absolute precision."

The same telegraph wire which carried this statement to the newspapers of the country, a few days ago, carried a practical demonstration of the partial truth of his assertion in the announcement that Lieutenant Commander J. C. Colwell, United States Naval Attache, had, last Monday, witnessed in England the test of an invention offered to this Government for steering torpedoes and submarine craft without the aid of wires or other devices.

The inventor claims for this wonderful destructive agent, and demonstrated it by experiment, that it can be directed and controlled by means of an ether wave from a shore motor with no connection save the current working upon the rudder.
