Civic Welcome to Roosevelt

Henry Clews Heads Alliance to Greet Former President — Will Meet Him at the Battery — Notable Business and Professional Men.

New York, June 14. — Arrangements have been completed by the American Civic Alliance, of which Henry Clews is President, for its part in the welcome to Colonel Roosevelt next Saturday. George H. Middlebrook has been appointed Chairman of the Reception Committee, M. H. Blake Vice Chairman and H. Lee Sellers Secretary. The organisation will be represented on the flotilla that will go down the bay to meet Colonel Roosevelt and officially greet him as he disembarks.

Mr. Middlebrook and the twelve members of the Reception Committee of the Alliance will act as part of the official escort to the former President on his way to the Battery, where he will be received with elaborate ceremonies. The committee has been assigned a place in the program there and in the land parade.

Intimations have been received from a large number of members from other cities who have signified their intention of coming to New York for participation in the welcome. Among the city and out-of-town members who are expected are: Thomas A. Edison, John Wanamaker, Theodore N. Vail, Gen. Thomas H. Hubbard, J. B. Greenhut, Cornellus N. Bliss, C. H. Coffin, Clarence L.
