Defense Rays to Block War

It has frequently been predicted that science would yet make an end to war through the invention of annihilating forces that neither man nor his machinery could withstand. Now, on his 78th birthday anniversary, Nikola Tesla, the wonder inventor, announces the discovery of force rays which can be set up like a wall about a nation's border that would render it absolutely impenetrable to military attack. These new rays would act through the medium of microscopic particles driven electrically and projected in the form of vast curtains miles high and each 100 miles in length. The force projecting plants, he says, are not cumbersome and could even be installed on battleships or submarines. He proposes to place his invention at the disposal of the Geneva Conference in the interests of world peace. Such an impenetrable defense wall would be the answer to the whole problem of national security, which has again set Europe into a mad rush for defensive armaments, alliances and treaties. It would reduce armaments to impotency and make them unnecessary, except to the extent of providing these defensive ray equipments. If, when the details of this so seemingly marvelous invention are divulged, it proves feasible then the days of international war would be at an end. It is a hope of divine inspiration. The world will await with breathless anticipation its full denouement, and if successful, the name of Tesla will become blessed.
