Meštrović: Nikola Tesla.

Our famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović, who lives in America, has recently created a monument to his equally famous countryman, scholar and inventor Nikola Tesla.

It is a wonderful monument of the great artist to the great scholar, in which Meštrović's genius, with the power characteristic of him, has depicted the ingenious inventor in his characteristic simplicity of a true scholar immersed in his thoughts...

As with many other of his artistic works which he created in America (the monument to Njegoš, to Andrija Kačić-Miošić, to Mila Gojsalić, to Zmaj Jovan Jovanović and others) Meštrović has also presented this monument to his old homeland.

The plaster model has already arrived in Zagreb, where it will be cast in bronze.

According to the artist's wish it will be placed in the courtyard of the Zagreb Atomic Institute opposite the monument to our other ingenious scholar, Rudjer Bošković, whose name that institute bears.

Meštrović also created the monument to Rudjer Bošković in the same style, so these two monuments will thus represent a harmonious artistic whole, but at the same time will symbolically express the greatest contribution of our peoples to science.
