One of the highlights of the 300th anniversary of the discovery of Niagara celebrated in 1978, was the projection of Father Hennepin's image on the Horseshoe Falls and gorge wall.
With the up-coming international "Festival of Lights" in Niagara Falls, New York and Ontario, I feel electrical inventor — Nikola Tesla, who made all this illumination possible, should be honored.
Tesla's greatest feat was harnessing the mighty waterpower of Niagara in 1896, and via long distance transmission of "alternating current", Main Street in Buffalo became the first street in the United States lit with electricity.
Tesla treasured being an American. His statue is located near the American Falls. It would be fitting if Tesla's portrait was projected on the American Falls during the festival as a tribute.
