Nikola Tesla Again

His Regular Monthly Invention Outbreak Arrives on Schedule Time.

Has Perfected a Scheme of Wireless Telegraphy, Which a Foreign Genius Has Experimented Successfully With for Some Time.

Nikola Tesla has worked another wonder. There is nothing strange in the fact, however, for Nikola Tesla will continue to wonk wonders as long as pen, ink and paper last.

Mr. Tesla's latest is a scheme for transmitting electrical power currents to distant points without the use of wires.

Tesla — according to Tesla — can now handle currents up to eight millions of volts, produced by his perfected oscillators; the current can be directed to any point at which arrangements have been made to receive it, and this can be accomplished without regard to distance or surrounding conditions. Only the amount of pen, ink and paper he has in hand must be taken into consideration.

These Are Advances.

These advances — of course, according to Mr. Tesla — have been made since October, 1898, when he thought environment would have, a potent influence on the transmission. Now, he says, that handicap bas been done away with.

The operator — according to Mr. Tesla — receives the electrical waves, from a distance and develops a pressure of halt a million volts in a coil which he holds, in his hand, preserving himself from injury by maintaining a fixed position on the electrical wave, where the pressure developed is small. Another experiment is that of an assistant receiving in his body the currents from an electrical oscillator, which pass through his body and make a metal bar glow in his hands, also lighting a vaccum tube on the celling.

To the scientific experts who are familiar in theory, and experiment with electrical vibration, the results speak eloquent language, but those to whom they are naturally less intelligible will ask: "What are they good for, and what do they or have they demonstrated?"

Mr. Tesla answers such inquiries by saying that ordinary currents can be transformed with high economy into electrical vibrations of any pitch; which are needed in many novel arts; that electrical energy in great amounts can be efficiently and safely transmitted without the use of wires to any point of the globe, however distants and that the movements and operation of bodies and machinery carried by the same can be controlled from a great distance without any tangible connection whatever and with absolute precision.

Great are the wonders of Tesla — on paper — but none of the wonders of Tesla are as great as the Wonderful Tesla — on paper.

And another thing, Mr. Tesla's latest discovery isn't so very wonderful, because Signor Marconi, of Dover, Eng., has made successful experiments for several months in transmitting wireless messages across the English Channel. He declares he can flash messages across the Atlantic if the proper facilties are provided on either side, and adds that he already has had several offers from American newspapers to report the coming American cup races.
