It is declared by Nikola Tesla that he has discovered a new law of electricity, which he claims is altogether different from what heretofore has been relied upon as leading to that development. While the progress made in the application of electrical energy to the industries of mankind is very great, very little more is known about

phenomena are still in the schools; electricity transmits the human voice, sends messages under the ocean, moves the vehicles of commerce, and does a thousand other things; but we do not know what the subtle force is. It has heretofore been held that the electric current is constant, but now Tesla, as the result of experiments at different altitudes, declares that the electrical capacity varies with the height above sea level, with the distance of the earth from the sun, and with the relative change of the circuit with respect to the sun caused by the diurnal rotation of the earth. So, in Tesla’s opinion, the electrical current is variable, and he insists that most of the technical literature upon the subject needs to be re-written. We are not yet told what electricity is.
