Nikola Tesla Has Perfected a Turbine Engine

Nikola Tesla, whose mysterious tower and experimental work shops are at Shoreham, L. L., has perfected a turbine engine capable of developing 110 horsepower. His invention is the sensation of the engineering world. With a motor weighing only twenty pounds, with easing and bearings which can be constructed to weigh thirty pounds more, it means an engine with two-horsepower for every pound of material used in its construction. Recent tests have tended to verify Tesla's claims for his new engine. Tesla thinks his engine will sustain a planeless aeroplane in flight because of its great speed, sees it capable of propelling a great ship loaded with passengers and freight, making the automobile a thing only dreamed of to-day, and bringing many changes in the engine-rooms of the big power plants. Tesla claims to have solved the great problem of utilizing the potential energy of the fuel wasted in heat and useless smoke and gases. — Frank Leslie's Weekly.
