Nikola Tesla's Promises

November 16th, 1899

From his new experiment station at Colorado Springs, Nikola Tesla repeats his periodic announcement of what he is going to do in the way of telegraphing without wires, &c. The public has heard these promises so frequently and so long that it no longer regards them with the admiring faith of former days.

The time has come for Mr. Tesla to cease announcing and promising until he has done something practical. There is a growing suspicion that his imagination is too large for his laboratory. His case seems to be one of those in which "desire doth outrun performance." He "doth protest too much." Mr. Tesla may be able to perform some of the wonders he describés, but for the good of his reputation he should hold his peace right industriously until his perfected achievements can speak for themselves.
