Polyphase Litigation in Germany

October 4th, 1895

We hear on good authority that the Helios Company, of Cologne, who are the owners in Germany of the Tesla patents, have brought actions at law for infringement against all the firms in Germany who are using the three-phase system of motors. In the United States, as we have already stated, the Westinghouse Company has brought suits against the General Electric Company in connection with the "monocyclic" system. And they have gone so far as to prosecute also the Stanley-Kelly Company for using the Stanley two-phase system, although in the motors of that Company the two circuits are kept separate, and not combined to make a rotatory field, Our British manufacturers will doubtless look on with feelings of gratification at the circumstance that, whoever gains or loses, the battle is being fought at the expense of their rivals.
