Round the World in Airplane Will Soon Be Common Vacation
Light Engines and Small Loads of Fuel Will Add to Pleasure of Flying.
NEW YORK, July 21. — 'Round the world in an airplane may be a common vacation Jaunt in the not too far distant future, as such na almost unbelievable progress is measured In terms of years and months, according to Tesla, inventor of the alternating current system of power transmission.
But the airplanes of the future that will make such flights will not be rendered cumbersome as at present by heavy loads of gasoline. Nor will they be burdened with heavy engines.
Instead, Tesla predicts, the airplanes of tomorrow will be propelled by light electric motors receiving their power by wireless transmission from generating stations on the ground and they will circle the globe with the same case that an automobile now ctrcles a city block.
Gazing into the future, Tesla pres for power for manufacturing and light and heat flowing freely through the air from central generating stations to whatever points they are needed.
And battleships, not airplanes, will be the dominating factors In wars, then, he avera. For a wireless directed force, inconceivably mors potent than the so-called "death ray" will make is possible for battleships to snuff out of existence any enemy airplanes appearing on the horizon.
These Tesla belleves, are only a few of the developments to be made possible by the perfection of wireless transmission. Whether or not his forecasts become reality, scientists recognize Tesla, now 71, as one who knows his subject. Tesla is the Inventor of the Induction motor and a pioneer in wireless development.
