Tesla Cannot Pay His Lawyer

Nikola Tesla, noted wireless and electrical inventor and scientist, of Manhattan, has confessed judgment in the sum of $913 in favor of Lawyer Ralph J. Hawkins, of Patchogue. Tire judgment, which is for legal services rendered Tesla by Lawyer Hawkins, was filed in the County Clerk's office at Riverhead. Tesla purchased a large tract of land and established a wireless experiment station at Shoreham 13 miles west of Riverhead, about 20 years ago, and experimented in the transmission of power by wireless. He had his dinner sent out to Shoreham each day from the Waldorf-Astoria when he was busily engaged at Shoreham. That hotel brought suit against him to recover a large sum for board, and he has been in considerable other litigation in some of which Lawyer Hawkins appeared as his attorney.
