Tesla to Make Air Itself Telegraphic

Nothing in our generation has been of more startling interest to scientific men than Tesla's invention for transmitting power electrically without the aid of metallic wires. The possibility of making the air itself a telegraphic wire, not only for the transmission of intelligence, but for the conveyance of energy, opens up a tremendous vista of mechanical progress. Tesla distinctly claims that by his invention he can generato millions of volta of electricity, aud with that pressure the ordinary atmosphere becomes capable of serving as a true conductor, and it becomes possible to transmit, through oven-moderately rarefied air, electrical energy up to practically any amount and to any distance. In commenting on this, The 'Electrical Review says, "If successful on a large seale, it will prove of astonishing consequence, for it will operi up unlimited resources of practically costless power." Tesla proposes to transmit without the use of wires, but simply through the natural media of earth and atmosphero enormous amounts of power to enormous distances. This simply means that power from such a source as Niagara in America can be made to turn a mill or run a train in Australia or Japan, and, incredible as this may sound, Mr. Tesla's experiments have now passed beyond the conjectural stage.
