Three patents granted to Nikola Tesla in 1888 on which a great part of the world's electrical business is based expired May 1. These patents were held by the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing company and by the General Electric company. They were the broad application of the use of alternating motor currents. Manufacturers are expected now to begin producing the Tesla machines.
