Tesla, the Electrician, and His Assistants Decline to Say Things About Their Work, but Meantime People Are Sitting Up Nights to Watch.
WARDENCLIFFE, L. I., July 16. — Although Nikola Tesla and his large corps of scientific assistants are unwilling to say anything about it, it is undoubtedly true that Important experiments are being made nightly at the electrical plant which Mr. Tesla has erected at this place. Las night, after nine o'clock, and continuing until after midnight the people of this place and Wading River were deeply interested by a display of electric flashes from the tall tower at the plant. To the outsider these strange and powerful lights are meaningless, though interesting from their very novelty. Certain it is that unusual effects are being produced and it is as good as a free pyrotechnic display for the people within a radius of a few miles of Wardenclyffe.
Mr. Tesla's employees are bound to secrecy regarding the affairs at the electrical station. Mr. Tesla was asked this morning to make a statement regarding the new demonstrations. He declared positively that there is nothing of public interest being done there at present. He does not want pubcity. He is not ready to talk about his work. In due time there will be something to say and then the readers of the public. press will be informed of the result of his labors, but until all is ready he has nothing to say and he earnestly hopes that the newspapers will refrain from mentioning his enterprise.
