Meeting with Tesla (continued)
electrical discharges produced at his Colorado Springs Experimental Station. Reflecting now that it must have been his youth that got him by, Mr. Schultz entered Mr. Tesla's inner office with probably the same degree of apprehension as one entering the workshop of Mephistopheles.
A lasting impression of Tesla as being tall, dignified, and very courteous has remained with Mr. Schultz. "When I read about Tesla's aversion to shaking hands with people he met, I tried hard to recall whether I had unwittingly subjected him to that ordeal. But, it was too long ago and I do not recall what transpired in that regard."
"Mr. Tesla talked with me for about an hour," recalled Mr. Schultz. "Some inventions and research ideas were discussed and, although Tesla did not offer to back or promote any of them (for which time has provided a measure of sympathy for his reasoning), he did give rewarding counsel. "
"I did not realize at the time what an historic privilege it was for me to even meet Tesla, so I made no special ef- fort to memorize any details or our conversation. Although I cannot recall any specific points regarding his advice, concludes Mr. Schultz, "I now realize that it must have been priceless and that, in one way or another I profited from it, up to this day."
OF CURRENT INTEREST
A number of Society members have mentioned the Tesla article appearing in the March (1955) issue of Point magazine.
The article is biographical in nature and, with the exception of the misspelling of Tesla's name*, it is quite accurate in detail.
