Here in this village of Smiljan Nikola Tesla saw the light of day and here he gained his first impressions of the world. Later on in the United States of America he offered humanity the great achievements of his creative mind. This memorial is erected by the Yugoslav peoples to mark the 120th anniversary of his birth
C - A stone block by the Vaganac brook will carry the following inscription (both in Croato-Serbian and English):
Here, in his early years, Nikola Tesla watched the flow of the Vaganac brook - in 1896 the first hydroelectric power-station was erected on the Niagara Falls on the basis of his discovery of the polyphase system
D - The stone block on the grave of inhabitants of Smiljan killed in wartime atrocities is to carry the following inscription:
Here rest five hundred and thirty people of Smiljan whose lives were cut short by Ustasha atrocities in 1941. In their memory this grave was placed in 1976 by their children, brothers and sisters, and comrades from that terrible wartime period which forged the brotherhood of our peoples and laid the foundation for the freedom of all Yugoslav peoples
