Nikola Tesla Stamp To Be Issued LACKAWANNA, N.Y. - A commemorative stamp honoring Nikola Tesla and three other inventors will be issued by the U.S. Postal Service. John A. Blatnik, a Slovenian by descent, who is a director on the Board of the Tesla Memorial Society, has been advised by the Postmaster General that the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee has taken positive action that Nikola Tesla and three other inventors, namely Edwin Howard Armstrong, Philo T. Fransworth and Charles P. Steinmetz, should be honored in 1983 with the issuance of a block of four commemoratives. The Tesla Memorial Society thanks all of you who have written to Washington, D.C., requesting a Tesla commemorative stamp. It goes to prove that sometimes all that is required to obtain what you want is just a wee bit of effortless effort on everybody's part. The purpose of the TMS, a non-profit organization, is to honor, cultivate, promote, foster, sponsor and commemorate the memory and ideals. of Nikola Tesla, an electrical engineer and scientific genius, a Yugoslav-American inventor who was the father of polyphase alternating current, by and through academic conferences, exhibits, speakers, scholarship awards and various cultural activities.
