Nikola Tesla Letters
August 29th, 1899 letter from Nikola Tesla to George Scherff
Colorado Springs, Aug. 29, 1899
My dear Mr. Scherff,
I was keenly disappointed by your letter just received to the effect that the men did not get full pay Saturday. This is the first time in my life that such a thing has happened, and I would give much that it did not. Why did not you go to the bank. You know that I want my men paid by all means.
I do not understand your frequent reports about the pwnp. day I understand that Mr. Uhlman has adopted one of the older the mercury into a pocket behind a screen and let it flow out velocity, and the overflow keeping the pressure constant.
This is good, but I fear I must come back to overflow without pump as I explained to Mr. Uhlman. Only this gives a perfectly steady flow. Tell Mr. Uhlman to adapt later type independent break for oscillator, the idea being to screw the break onto the casting as before. I do not remember now the exact sizes and can not tell how it will go with the rest, but he can make such changes in the dimensions as are necessary. Note in new oscillator the regulating coil will be independently (outside of oscillator) used.
You may expect me soon in New York.
Sincerely,
N. Tesla
