Letters to and from, or regarding Nikola Tesla

December 14th, 1899 letter from George Scherff to Nikola Tesla

New York, Dec. 14th, 1899
46 & 48 E. Houston Street

Nikola Tesla, Esq.,
Colorado Springs, Colo.

Dear Mr. Tesla:

The work of the shop is on the commutator, condenser case casting, spark rod support and minor parts of the oscillator.

Mr. Uhlman regrets very much to report that he has not succeeded with the mica condenser, the same having been short-circuited, he thinks, in building up with mica strips, although great care was exercised. The condenser had to be boiled out twice, as the first time the wax showed bubbles. Mr. Uhlman asks, if he may take it apart and attempt to rebuild it successfully.

The French book on energy transmission has finally arrived to-day and was at once forwarded.

Permit me to offer my congratulations and best wishes for Dec. 18th, the day of your patron saint.

Respectfully,
Geo. Scherff
