Letters to and from, or regarding Nikola Tesla

December 21st, 1899 letter from George Scherff to Nikola Tesla

New York, Dec. 21rst,
1899 46 & 48 E. Houston Street

Nikola Tesla, Esq.,
Colorado Springs, Colo.

Dear Mr. Tesla:

The work of the shop to-day is on the stationary shaft casting, condenser case, spark-rods and support, adjusting of the armature and commutator and finishing and assembling other parts of the oscillator.

Mr. Uhlman says all the stationary shaft castings have turned out to be full of blowholes at the bottom, but the best one has been chosen and plugged with a steel bushing, and so a perfectly tight casting has been secured. This procedure was resorted to in order not to delay the work until the other castings are ready, but if it proves not suitable, Mr. Uhlman says, one of the new casting will be immediately turned up when they arrive.

Respectfully,
Geo. Scherff
