May 13th, 1899 letter from George Scherff to Nikola Tesla

Dear Mr. Tesla:

I noticed in the mail this morning a letter from the U.S. Treasury Department, and, thinking it might be of importance, I took the liberty to open it. I inclose a copy of the letter.

Shall I send an acknowledgement of this or any similar letters which may arrive during your absence? I forgot to ask before you left.

Permit me also to inquire about your health after the anxiety and the strain of the railroad journey.
