October 23rd, 1899 letter from George Scherff to Nikola Tesla

Dear Mr. Tesla:

I regret to say that the glass tubes are still not ready for shipment, because Mr. Wagner could not absent himself from his place to-day. The small lamps could not be finished Saturday evening, as Mr. Uhlman found, when the lamps were ready to be exhausted, that the pump valve would not open after being long inoperative. He has tried all day, and is still trying, to make the pump work, but so far without success, and if it is necessary, the tubes will be sent to Greiner in the morning to be exhausted.

The small break will be finished to-morrow.

The inclosed letter was received to-day.
