1 1 1 1 T I T 1 1 x B₁ hecb. 82 donsists in admitting it to the central portion of a system of plane spaced surfaces, rotating said system by suitable power, and, by the adhesive and viscous properties of the fluid, causing it to ow, under the combined influence of radial and tangential forces, with continuously increasing velocity in a natural spiral path along the plane rotating surfaces towards the peripheral portion of the same. The method of imperting energy to a fluid, which consists in admitting it to the central portion of a plurality of plane spaced disks, rotating the diske by suitable power, and, by the adhesive and viscous properties of the fluid, causing it to flow, under the combined influence of radial and tangential forces in natural spirals between the surfaces of eaid disks towards the peripheral portions of the same. A machine for propelling or imparting energy to fluids, comprising in combination a plurality of spaced disks rotatably mounted, and having plane surfaces. en enclosing casing and ports of inlet at the axial and outlet at the peripheral portion of said casing respectively. Renumber claims 8 and 9,.as 6 and 7. ARGUMENT. In presenting the above amendment we would state that we do not regard original claims 6 and 7 (formerly 8 and 9), and claim 5 as emended, in any way open to the objection of identity with claims 15 to 22 of applicant's case, Serial No. 603,049, for whatever may be said of the latter, the claims of the present application are certainly limited to a pump in which the in-2835
