JULOODGEDULEDU show Photograph B and that also attached hereto ar d marked "C" the same turbine disconnected from the same pipes. In both of these photographs the reversing nozzle, which is mounted on top, as well as the exhaust, may be plainly seen. I have read the applications for patent filed by Mr. Tesla for this invention, namely, serial No. 523,832, filed Oct. 21, 1909, and serial No. 603,049, filed January 17, 1911, and I find that the turbine above referred to was constructed exactly on the principle described in said applications and illustrated more particularly in Figures 2 thereof, and I am of the opinion that the turbine operates precisely on the principle set forth in said applications. The following data, selected from a number taken, refer to measurements of this turbine at which I assisted Mr. Tesla, the record being kept by Professor C.D.Richards, Professor Emeritus of the Engineering Faculty of Yale University: R. P. H. 18000 Water consumed per hour. 5481 lbs. gear. Steam Gauge at nozzle. 100 lbs. Brake H. P. 102.8 Vacuum Gauge at Exhaust 15 355 Steam consumption per Brake H.P.per hour. 53.4 No allowance was made at this test for loss of power in Many similar tests with the Tesla turbine have unmistakably shown that conversion of heat into mechanical power takes place during the passage of the steam through the rotor. It is, therefore, entirely unlike such smooth disk turbines that proposed and illustrated for example in the United. as tate 899
