Ken Strickfaden

(continued)

Ken Strickfaden's entry into manhood coincided with World War 1. Ken served with the AEF in Europe. When the war had ended, Ken could hardly wait for the day when his high voltage apparatus and wireless telegraphy equipment, long silent, could be brought back to life. It was this laboratory of gadgets that won him a $5 prize from Electrical Experimenter magazine. The editors were impressed with the fine layout of home constructed equipment.

In 1927, Ken became affiliated with local 40 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. A few years later, he made his mark in the Frankenstein epic. The rest is history.

Strickfaden has held a life long respect for Nikola Tesla. Whenever there is an ear for listening, Ken will take on the role of an evangelist to speak on Tesla's behalf. The Tesla coils that Ken constructed for movie effects were made on the 1/4 wave principle utilized by Tesla.

Although Strickfaden is in his late 80's, he continues to retain the youthful traits for which he was always known. Little did I realize, when running home backwards on that scary night of the 1930's, that I would someday be paying tribute to the real father of Frankenstein's monster.
