Nos. 46 and 48 E. Houston St.I am in receipt of your circular of Sept. 20th, and wish to state that I very much regret not to be able to meet you in your wish.
Even if I had a definite opinion, I would hesitate to express it at so critical a moment, when the spirits are excited to such a high degree. Dreyfus is a French officer and has been judged by those who have the highest right to judge him — his own countrymen. I can only entertain the sincere hope, in common with many others, that his innocence will be eventually established.
