Centennial for Nikola Tesla

To the Editor of The Knickerbocker News.

This 9th day of July, 100 years ago, Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan, Croatia (Yugoslavia) of parents whe were alse inventors. At the age of 28 after some inventing of electrical devices, Nikola chose this land of liberty and opportunity and got a job with Thomas Edison, resigning after two years because Edison favored DC electricity whereas Tesla was sold on AC. In the next five years he invented are lighting, the induction motor, coil and transformer. He died in 1948 after 52 more years of research but no noteworthy inventions though he engineered power plants like Niagara Falls. His pioneer work in AC electricity made possible the many conveniences we enjoy today. Tesla deserves more honor than given so far.
