I commend the Niagara Falls Illumination Board for extending the lighting hours on the cataracts during the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
It would also be fitting if we had special illumination of the "Falls" on Friday, Jan. 7, 1983. This date marks the 40th anniversary of the death of electrical inventor Nikola Tesla. His greatest feat was harnessing the waterpower of the "Mighty Cataracts of Niagara" shared by Canada and the United States.
Sometime in May 1983, the United States Postal Service will issue a block of four inventor stamps, with one honoring "Tesla." As a tribute to the "World's Greatest Engineer," who made possible for all the alternating current lighting we enjoy today, may I suggest the American and Horseshoe Falls be lit in patriotic colors on Jan. 7, 1983 from dusk to midnight.
