Funeral of H. O. Havemeyer

Delegations Present From the Chamber of Commerce and the Sugar Company.

The funeral of Henry O. Havemeyer, president of the American Sugar Refining Company, was held at 10 o'clock yesterday morning at the Havemeyer home, 1 East Sixty-sixth street. The service was read by the Rev. Dr. R. Heber Newton, formerly rector of All Souls' Church, which Mr. Havemeyer attended. A quartet from Grace Church sang and then Dr. Newton delivered a short eulogy. He characterized Mr. Havemeyer as a man of "indomitable courage and magnificent ability."

The service was attended by deputations representing the Chamber of Commerce, the City Bank and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A. Foster Higgins headed the deputation from the Chamber of Commerce and James Stillman that from the City Bank. The American Sugar Refining Company was represented by Vice-President W. B. Thomas and Secretary Charles R. Heike. John E. Parsons, Charles Senff. John Mayer, Arthur Mayer and George H. Frazier were present from the board of directors.

There were no honorary pallbearers, but several of Mr. Havemeyer's business associates acted as ushers. They were Judson Lounsbury. Charles E. Safford, John H. Thompson and Henry C. Mott. Among those present at the services were J. P. Morgan. Josepla H. Choate. John Arbuckle, John E. Searles, Lowell M. Palmer. Nikola Tesla. William Baylis, Percy R. Payne and Gustav Amsinck. The interment was at Greenwood Cemetery.
