Nikola Tesla Loses $6,828 Verdict in Loan Case

John R. Hatmaker, a manufacturer of dry milk products, was awarded a verdict of $6,828.33 by a jury before Justice Delehanty in the Supreme Court to-day against Nikola Tesla, the electrical inventor. The judgment represented a loan of $5,000 made to Tesla in 1921 plus interest and costs. Tesla asserted that this was not the case, however, but that the $5,000 represented a first payment on a total sum of $20,000 which Hatmaker was to pay for the English rights to an invention.
