Shoreham, L. I.. August 4 — The Tesla wireless tower at this place, which was recently condemned by the Government for fear of its use to transmit messages to an enemy, is being taken apart in sections and will be shipped from here in freight cars. It is estimated that the material from the tower will fill twenty freight cars, and to load the iron and steel on the cars a number of feet of side track is being laid at the Shoreham depot. There are about twenty laborers now employed at this work.
The dismantling of the huge tower is being done under Government supervision, and R. W. Smith is in charge of the work. Where the material is to to be shipped cannot be learned.
