Shoreham, L. I., August 25 — After standing for many years as a monument to commemorate the electrical experiments of Nikola Tesla, the picturesque tower has been torn down by the War Department to prevent the use of it by German spies. This picture shows how the tower looked after the props had been knocked from under it and its mushroom thrown off and reduced to wreckage. Later the portion which is shown standing in the picture was toppled over and reduced to wreckage.
