Something to Think About

Nikola Tesla, the electrical wizard, declares that he is almost ready to announce an invention that will be overwhelming to the mind and revolutionary in the affairs of men. This sounds fantastic, but science and invention have accomplished such miracles in recent years that it is foolhardy to doubt predictions further achievements.

Tesla gives no inkling of what his new invention is to be, but it's pathered that it involves the generation and transmission of power possible the transmission of power by wireless, or radio waves. It would be wonderful to drive an automobile through the country drawing the motive power from the air and with little or no expense!

Invention has done much towards increasing the capacity of man. It has enabled him to see further, to hear a longer distance and to travel at about 100 times faster. The abundant production capacity of today is entirely due to science. The advancement of science has been so rapid in the field of industry that it has upset the former scheme of things and brought about a topsy-turvy state of affairs.

It may be worse yet when Tesla puts his wonderful invention on the market. And yet, it is entirely a problem of adjustment. The question that arises is whether the individualistic economy is capable of applying the achievements of science to practical affairs in such a manner as to derive benefit rather than loss from them. The time will probably come when all work will be done by some kind of machinery and this time appears to be approaching now. Man then will have to find something else to do besides work. It would seem that our best minds should think upon these things.
