Tesla Against Death Penalty - Thinks It Barbarous and Is Excused as a General Sessions Juror

Nikola Tesla, the inventor, was called yesterday as a juror in a General Sessions murder trial and told Assistant District Attorney Train that he was opposed to the death penalty and thought it barbarous.

"But you believe in upholding your country's laws, don't you?" asked Judge Foster.

"I would do everything in my power for the benefit of our country and its laws but I could never condemn a fellow being to death," replied Mr. Tesla. As Judge Foster's calendar is mostly made up of murder cases Mr. Tesla was excused for the rest of the term.
