Tesla Coil - Tesla and Skiagraphs

February 26th, 1897

[90061.] — Coil: Tesla and Skiagraphs. — To MR. BOTTONE. — I don't think you will improve matters by using a Tesla in conjunction with your coil. The same winding as described would be suitable, in case you were inclined to try it. By "heavy" paraffin oils are meant those having a high boiling-point. But better still is good linseed oil, in which a little rosin has been dissolved. You will be able to shorten your exposures by one-half if you use Cadett's "Lightning" plates. It is quite right to use the cells coupled in parallel, because it is current in amperes, and not volts, you require. I should not advise you to use more than six cells; but I think if your cells had elements 5in. by 10in. you would get even better results.

S. BOTTONE.
