The excellent article "X-Wing and We make a conscious effort to provide Tilt-Rotor: Hybrid Aircraft That Get accurate prices and addresses of Up and Go" [July] brought to mind sources where appropriate. There's a Nikola Tesla's 1927 patent for a a vertical-takeoff-and-landing apparatus [drawing above]. Like many of Tesla's ideas, it preceded the technology that brought it to fruition by many years.
