Two Scientists Are Honored at Poly Dinner

Professors Scott of Yale, Adams of Illinois Are to Receive Degrees

Science paid tribute to its own last night when two of its stalwarts were guests of honor at the annual corporation dinner of the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. The two, Prof. Charles F. Scott of Yale and Prof. Roger Adams of Illinois Universities, are to be awarded honorary degrees today at the commencement exercises of the Institute.

More than 70 prominent leaders in the fields of science, industry, the arts and education attended the dinner at the University Club, 1 W. 54th St., Manhattan, and heard of the achievements of the two scientists.

The contributions of Professor Scott, who is to get the honorary degree of doctor of engineering, were described by William O. Wiley, publisher. After years of service with the Westinghouse Electrical Co., Mr. Scott was appointed professor of electrical engineering at Yale in 1911. While with the Westinghouse Company, he pioneered in various electrical fields.

Aided Tesla

He assisted Nikola Tesla with his world renowned work on alternating currents. In 1930, he was awarded the Edison Medal of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. He has won the Lamme Medal of the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Education.
