Hertz waves, wireless telegraphy cannot be achieved. Despite the fact that Hertz short waves cannot overcome the curvature of the earth and other obstacles since they propagate like sunlight in a straight line, Marconi’s experiments were mostly unsuccessful because heavily damped Hertz oscillations could not provide the transmitting radio station with enough energy to be detected at a greater distance, even with the most sensitive receivers. The energy of the Hertzian oscillator was wasted. Marconi worked with a power of 50 kilowatts and more, but the greatest distances he achieved at sea were only 40-50 kilometers. After such failures, Marconi realized that only through Tesla’s currents could wireless telegraphy be achieved. He secretly utilized Tesla’s devices and long waves and, by the end of December 1901, succeeded in wirelessly transmitting signals from England to America. Marconi’s success is a clear demonstration of the value of Tesla’s system, and the best proof that Marconi used Tesla’s inventions and devices is the fact that he never mentioned Tesla’s name in his explanations. Only subsequent disclosures of the apparatus used clearly demonstrated this. Today, there is a debate about whether Marconi was essentially a mere imitator of Tesla, who cleverly utilized some of Tesla’s inventions on an industrial basis, trying to convince the public that his successes were his intellectual property, in which he was very successful.

Now, as we celebrate the eightieth anniversary of Tesla, it is necessary to speak the truth and determine what belongs to whom. Our science has a wide field open to work toward satisfying historical truth regarding Tesla and his genius works, and to work on the side of our prestige, to give Tesla full recognition. Today, there are no longer the industrial interests and various personal interests that were crucial in the past in the great struggle against Tesla, so it is now possible to correct the entrenched mistakes. Tesla, through his work and against Edison, Ferraris, Hertz, Marconi, and many others, achieved such great deeds that they cannot be silently ignored. When only what has practically proven to be crucial for today’s successes in high-current electrical engineering, high-voltage technology, high-frequency technology, and radio technology is acknowledged, then the whole world will know that Tesla is a genius belonging to the same league as Galileo, Newton, and Faraday, as his works will endure as long as science and technology endure, just like the works of these leading minds of humanity.
