Otherwise, he was a skilled mechanic. As a child, he used his left hand, so he was left-handed, which was undoubtedly the reason he received poor grades in drawing. Over time, he trained himself to be equally adept with both hands.

For many years, he worked for 18, and sometimes even up to 20 hours, and the rest of the time he would sleep. Tesla mocked Edison, who boasted about sleeping only two to three hours, but Edison was often found in his laboratory, sitting in an armchair, sleeping uninterrupted for three hours. Tesla didn't do that; he slept - standing. When the service staff would enter his room to tidy it, he would stand motionless like a statue, paying no attention to anyone.

He never married, nor did he have any contact with women. When he was on vacation as a student, he did, however, love one girl. "She was tall, slender, and had unusually intelligent eyes."

In his younger days, Tesla used to host formal dinners at his hotel, to which he would invite the most prominent figures in science, technology, and - finance. On one occasion, when the guests had already gathered, the management informed Tesla that the food would be served only after the bill for the event was paid in advance. Tesla, unfazed, instructed his millionaire friend Morgan to send him the necessary funds. Morgan had no other choice, and as soon as the check arrived, the dinner began.

On another occasion, he had to pay his two female employees. Since he had no dollars in his pocket, he proposed to them that he would split his Edison Medal, whose gold was worth about a hundred dollars, and give half to each. They, however, were unwilling to agree to this and preferred to wait.
