Nikola Tesla Books

Books written by or about Nikola Tesla

In his old age, he showed unusual physical freshness and flexibility that doctors marvelled at. He always said he would live to be 150 years old. When the "dry regime" or "prohibition" was introduced in the USA and the serving of alcoholic beverages was forbidden, Tesla stated that under such circumstances he would only be able to live to be 130 years old.

Right after the First World War, Tesla was visited by some of our people from Yugoslavia, who told us various details about him. On the occasion of his seventieth anniversary, the University of Zagreb solemnly promoted Tesla to an honorary doctor of technical sciences. Professor Calogovic brought the honorary diploma to personally present it to him. Tesla invited him to dinner at the hotel where he was staying, apologizing that he could not change his way of life to accommodate a guest. Dinner was prepared exactly according to his instructions with the necessary amounts of calories and vitamins. During dinner he told him much about himself.

Before the war, he was visited by Franjo Hanaman, professor at the Technical Faculty in Zagreb. It is known that Hanaman was the first to construct an electric light bulb whose filaments were made of tungsten, and which are still built on that principle today. In 1906, Hanaman announced his patent, which is considered a turning point in the technology of electric lighting, because such bulbs are not only more durable but also consume much less energy than the original Edison bulbs with carbon filaments.

He was also visited by Professor Milan Vidmar of the Technical Faculty in Ljubljana, who is better known among us as a world chess master, and abroad enjoys great reputation as the author of monumental works in the field of electro-technology.

Tesla was regularly visited by Paja Radosavljevic, professor of psychology and pedagogy at New York University,
