Near the house and the church, there is a small stream, by which Nikola, even as a little child, set up his little wheels - turbines, and enjoyed watching how the water turned them. These were his first, perhaps unconscious attempts to harness the water power of the stream. This is where the seed of his later thoughts about transforming water power into useful work lies, and these thoughts led him to the greatest discoveries in the history of science.
